Two winless Mecklenburg County football programs meet Saturday, Sept. 5, when Ballantyne Ridge travels to South Mecklenburg's new Boger Field stadium.

Both teams enter the Week 3 matchup at 0-2. Neither has won through two weeks of the 2026 season.

South Meck opened Boger Field on Friday, Aug. 28, but the debut didn't go as planned. Community School of Davidson spoiled the occasion with a 35-14 victory, WBTV reported. The Sabres had been waiting for this moment. Construction kept them from playing a single home game during the entire 2025 season.

The 35-14 loss was the second straight defeat for South Meck. The Charlotte Observer reported Charlotte Catholic shut out the Sabres 24-0 on Friday, Aug. 21, in the season opener. South Meck's offense has managed just 14 points in two games while allowing 59.

Ballantyne Ridge's first two weeks have been equally difficult. The team fell 41-35 to Lake Wylie, S.C., on Thursday, Aug. 20, in a game that gave the Lake Wylie program its first varsity football win in school history, On3 reported. Then Marvin Ridge handed Ballantyne Ridge a 43-0 loss on Thursday, Aug. 27, according to the Wilson Times.

The Week 1 result against Lake Wylie showed Ballantyne Ridge can score. The team put up 35 points in a back-and-forth game before falling short by six. The 43-0 shutout at Marvin Ridge a week later was a sharp reversal.

Combined, Ballantyne Ridge has scored 35 points and allowed 84 through two games. South Meck has scored 14 and allowed 59.

The Sept. 5 game at Boger Field will be Ballantyne Ridge's first road trip to the Sabres' new on-campus stadium. Kickoff time has not been confirmed in available reports.
