Ballantyne residents and businesses can honor veterans by switching at least one light bulb to green on Wednesday, Nov. 11, according to Mecklenburg County.

The county is participating in Operation Green Light, a national effort to recognize veterans and raise awareness of the services available to them.

A green light can be displayed outside a home or business or indoors where it can spark a conversation, the county says. Participants can share photos with the hashtag #OperationGreenLight.

Mecklenburg County Veterans Services coordinated with Charlotte Center City Partners to illuminate uptown buildings green for Veterans Day, according to the announcement.

Veterans Services Director Scott Garlow said the lights offer a visible sign of gratitude and support. The county also encourages residents to show support throughout the year.
