One person was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 8, near Archdale Drive in south Charlotte, according to WCNC and Queen City News.
Paramedics with Medic pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The victim's identity had not been released as of the Sept. 8 reports.
WCNC reported the shooting occurred near the intersection of Archdale Drive and Leafcrest Lane. Queen City News, citing Medic officials, placed the incident in the 6200 block of Park Road near Archdale Drive. The two descriptions appear to reference the same general area, though the precise address has not been confirmed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD).
No arrests have been announced.
CMPD had not released any information about the shooting as of Tuesday evening, according to WCNC. Officials did not say what led to the shooting or whether a suspect had been identified.
Based on the geographic location, the shooting falls within the area covered by CMPD's South Division, which serves the Ballantyne community. The department has not officially confirmed the division handling the case.
Separate from Labor Day weekend homicide
The Archdale Drive shooting is a separate incident from a Labor Day weekend homicide investigated by the Steele Creek Division. In that case, CMPD identified the victim as Elliot Rukwan Butler, 31, in a news release dated Saturday, Sept. 5. The investigation into Butler's death remains active.
