Tickets are on sale for an evening wine walk through Waverly's shops on Thursday, Sept. 17, with all proceeds going to a Charlotte-area breast cancer nonprofit.

The event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Waverly, 7415 Waverly Walk Ave. Guests stroll through participating boutiques, sampling wine pours along the way. Shops will offer discounts, specials and swag throughout the evening, The Charlotte Weekly reported.

Early-bird tickets cost $20 at waverlyclt.com/winewalk. Additional fees may apply at checkout.

J. Leigh Events is organizing the walk, according to the event's Eventbrite page.

All ticket sales benefit The Go Jen Go Foundation, a Charlotte-based 501(c)(3) that provides financial assistance to breast cancer patients and their families. The foundation covers housing, utilities, transportation and groceries so patients can focus on treatment and recovery, according to its website.

Co-founder Jen Pagani started the organization in 2009 after her own stage III breast cancer diagnosis. She saw an unmet need in the breast cancer community and founded Go Jen Go to help patients cover basic living expenses during treatment.

"We always hear how cancer affects so many people, but I always thought that meant that so many people get the disease," Pagani wrote on the foundation's website. "I now realize what it really means is that so many people are moved to do extraordinary things for others because of cancer."

Susan Evren, executive director of The Go Jen Go Foundation, described the organization's community mission in an Aug. 8 Charlotte Weekly article about a separate fundraiser, saying the foundation works to bring people together to support the local breast cancer community.

Parking for the Wine Walk is available in an 800-space deck behind Pet People and the Hilton Garden Inn, on-street spots, in front of Whole Foods and near Yama and Viva Chicken.
