Thirty Charlotte firefighters controlled a structure fire on the 10500 block of Green Hedge Avenue in Ballantyne on Monday, Aug. 31, with no injuries to civilians or firefighters.

Engine 31 arrived first and reported smoke visible from the structure, the Charlotte Fire Department said on X. Crews brought the blaze under control in 18 minutes.

The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force is working to determine the cause, the department said in a follow-up post. No details about the fire's origin or the extent of damage have been released.

Second Ballantyne fire in days

The Green Hedge Avenue fire marks the second structure fire in Ballantyne in less than a week. On Thursday, Aug. 27, 30 firefighters responded to a blaze on the 9300 block of Haywain Court. That fire took 32 minutes to control. No injuries were reported at Haywain Court either.

The task force was also called to investigate the Haywain Court fire. No cause has been announced for either incident.

Both fires drew the same number of firefighters, but the Green Hedge Avenue response was controlled nearly twice as fast. The Charlotte Fire Department has not said whether the two fires are connected in any way.
