A 31-year-old man faces four felony charges after police said he filmed under the skirts of teenage girls at a Ballantyne Target store.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police arrested Adem Tyler Shrader on Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Target at 9870 Rea Road after loss prevention staff called officers around 6:20 p.m., Queen City News reported, citing CMPD and Mecklenburg County court records.

Shrader is accused of using his cellphone to record beneath the skirt of a 17-year-old girl without her knowledge, then following three 15-year-old girls through the store and attempting to position his phone behind them, according to the report. Store employees and officers detained him near the checkout area. Court records noted he had been pushing an empty shopping cart and carrying a bottle of orange Fanta.

None of the four victims knew him.

Charges and prior record

Shrader faces three counts of felony indecent liberties with a minor, a Class F felony under North Carolina law, and one count of felony secret peeping, a Class I felony. A second or subsequent secret-peeping conviction carries a penalty one class higher.

He was being held without bond in the Mecklenburg County jail as of the time of the Queen City News report.

This is not his first arrest on similar allegations. Roughly two years before the Sept. 13 arrest, Shrader was taken into custody on peeping tom-related charges in York County, South Carolina, and sentenced to more than eight months in prison, according to court records cited in the report. Exact details of that case were not available.

No next court date has been announced publicly.
