Ardrey Kell hosts No. 5-ranked Chambers on Friday, Sept. 18, for a 7 p.m. kickoff at the Knights' home field.

The Knights enter at 3-1 after a 37-14 win over South Mecklenburg on Sept. 10. Freshman quarterback Noah Dailey went 17-of-26 for 209 yards and four touchdowns in that game, according to the Charlotte Observer's player-of-the-week nominees. Dailey, formerly of Community House Middle School, starts for first-year head coach Carter Greene.

Ardrey Kell's lone loss came Sept. 4 against Marvin Ridge, 42-21.

Senior wide receiver Khy'lieb Rodriguez, an NC State commit who posted 755 receiving yards last season, ranks ninth in North Carolina with 474 receiving yards through four games, according to MaxPreps. The Dailey-to-Rodriguez connection gives the Knights an offensive identity that will be tested against a Chambers squad still finding its rhythm under second-year head coach Captain Munnerlyn, a former Carolina Panthers player.

Chambers arrives riding its first 4-0 start in five years. The Cougars knocked off previously unbeaten Palisades 24-20 on Sept. 10 behind senior quarterback Jamouri Nichols, who transferred this season from West Charlotte, where he won a state championship MVP award. Against Palisades, Nichols completed 7 of 13 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown while rushing 14 times for 111 yards and another score, the Charlotte Observer reported.

"If my number is called, I'm just gonna make a play," Nichols told the Observer after the Sept. 10 win over Palisades.

Munnerlyn told the Observer after that Sept. 10 game that the Cougars are "trying to build brick by brick" with a roster that includes 10 returning starters and nearly a dozen transfers.

The Charlotte Observer's Sweet 16 poll ranked Chambers No. 4 after its 3-0 start. MaxPreps has the Cougars at No. 5 entering Week 5.

The Knights return seven starters from a team that went 6-4 in 2025, according to the Charlotte Observer.

WBTV's Football Friday Night will cover the matchup, with anchors Nate Wimberly and Cam Gaskins airing highlights starting at 11:20 p.m.
